Who really wins and loses in the food system?

FFCC's Chief Exec Sue Pritchard on the power and politics behind food.

23rd April 2026

Our Chief Executive Sue Pritchard joined Chloe and Tom on the Wilder Podcast to unpack to unpack some big questions about the food system – like whether it really is broken when it works so well for an elite few? The episode explores the politics and economics behind the food we eat: from invisible commodity giants with concentrated corporate power, to the assumption that people only care about cheap food.

The conversation also looks at what happens when people are actually asked what they want from food – and involved in the policymaking process. Drawing on FFCC’s work with citizens in The Food Conversation and through the Citizen Advisory Council to the Food Strategy, Sue talks about how people and communities across the UK know the solutions that are needed – and are already taking action for a fairer, healthier and greener food system.
