"Thoughtful, considered and detailed"

We respond to the House of Lords report on Land Use

13th December 2022

Today the House of Lords Committee on Land Use publishes its report, Making the most out of England’s land, which includes recommendations on the government's Land Use Framework, due to be published in 2023.

FFCC Chief Executive Sue Pritchard has responded to the report: "We welcome the report – which is a thoughtful, considered and detailed inquiry of a complex subject. To get better value for money for the public, and meet their own targets, government should pay close heed to its proposals. A Land Use Framework - a key recommendation - could enable government departments to work together to resolve many urgent problems.”

Chapter 5 of the report, which focuses on the Land Use Framework recommendation, reflects many of FFCC's recommendations and includes a case study of FFCC's two land use framework pilots in Devon and Cambridgeshire, which have been testing better ways to make decisions about land in partnership with the Geospatial Commission, Environment Agency and other partners.
