Enable land to deliver public value

Civil society leaders call on ministers to act

13th December 2022

To coincide with the publication of Making the most out of England’s land, the report from the House of Lords Committee on Land Use, FFCC, along with other civil society organisations representing the environment, housing, heritage, farming, the countryside and local councils, has written to five government ministers – Defra, Treasury, Business, Local Government and Transport - to support the main recommendations of the report.

To deliver better public value and optimise the multi-functional use of finite and precious land, the letter highlights the need for a Land Use Framework for England to be truly cross-government and cross-issue, to facilitate local community and business engagement, to bring together, and make more accessible, data to support better land use decisions.

These organisations stand ready to help with the development of a framework, drawing on our extensive expertise and networks – in FFCC’s case in particular, from the two county pilots we are running.
