Communications Assistant

Please note we reserve the right to make an appointment before the closing date if an exceptional candidate is suitable.

This role will suit you if you have a huge appetite for learning, a delight in communicating that knowledge, and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced team focused on making change happen.

FFCC is a fascinating place to work. We get the chance to grapple with some of the biggest questions of the time. We focus every day on practical and radical ideas to build more just and sustainable society. Globally, agriculture and land-use change account for almost a quarter of global emissions and are among the biggest drivers of biodiversity loss – it’s our job to encourage new and diverse thinking, build partnerships and help turn around these bleak statistics.

This is a chance to work in a fast-paced environment where you can see your work affecting change in the world. Reporting to the External Affairs Manager, you will be part of a small, but experienced and motivated, communications team – learning how to develop content, manage complex events, running social media campaigns, copywriting and editing and overseeing detailed stakeholder engagement activities, among many other things.

We actively encourage people from a range of backgrounds to apply for this role - understanding our work is not a prerequisite for this role, but we do want you to have a huge appetite for learning and a delight in communicating that knowledge.

We want someone who is buzzing with enthusiasm to learn, is a brilliant communicator (in writing as well as in person), is highly self-motivated and able to work in a virtual team effectively. Some work experience and evidence of your ability to manage your time well and bring new ideas and new ways of thinking will also be key.

This internship is a positive action initiative, and is for somebody of Black, Asian, minority ethnic or mixed-race background. FFCC is committed to diversity, equality and inclusion and celebrates these qualities as essential principles of a fair and sustainable society. We understand that our organisation, along with the sectors in which we work, is not representative of the diversity of UK countries and we are taking steps to address this.

This role will suit you if you have:

- Enthusiasm for learning and developing your skills in a fast-paced environment.

- Articulate, engaging and accurate communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.

- Ability to prioritise and multi task with the initiative and motivation to work in a virtual, networked team.

- An interest in the work and mission of FFCC.
